Our Policies

Program: Notes Music Academy (NMA) offers progressive ongoing 4-Lesson programs, Semester programs, and Deluxe programs that include one-on-one private lessons, band rehearsals, music appreciation and master class workshops, plus participation in semi-annual student recitals.

Materials: Students are responsible for the purchase of any required materials including but not limited to: books, manuscript paper, recordable media such as blank CD's or drives for MP3's and recorded music for lesson reference.

Equipment: Students are welcome to use any available musical instruments and equipment at any given time for use in private lessons or for personal practice at NMA. Students are responsible for any damage to NMA owned equipment. Students are advised to purchase or rent their own equipment for personal practice and performance. NMA may offer assistance and guidance in renting or purchasing musical equipment, as necessary.

Attendance: It is the responsibility of the student/parents to notify their teacher 24 hrs in advance of a canceled lesson. All cancellations must be documented through the My Music Staff Student Portal. Notices given under 24 hours in advance of a lesson or a no-call / no-show will be counted as a paid-for lesson. If there are two consecutive unexcused absences, the student may be removed from the schedule and forfeit their timeslot. A total of 1 canceled lesson (with notice) is permitted per 4-lesson package, 3 per Semester package, and 5 per Deluxe package. If students exceed their permitted number of canceled lessons in their package, then all subsequent absences will be considered billable lessons (even if more than 24 hour notice is given). In the event that a teacher is absent, a substitute may be provided.

Payment: A non-refundable fee is due at the time of application in order to be scheduled for a time slot. The fee will be applied towards any lesson package when purchased. A fee is not required if a lesson package is purchased in full prior to being scheduled. Students pay in advance for their next block of lessons. Tuition for the continuing lesson package is due immediately after the last lesson of the student's current package. If payment is not received at least 72 hours prior to the next scheduled lesson, all future lessons may be canceled and the student risks losing their timeslot. All students are required to have an active credit or debit card on file with NMA. If no card is available, then a refundable $100 cash deposit is required. Notes Music Academy reserves the right to charge the card or deduct from the cash deposit for any outstanding balance. The card on file or cash deposit will not be charged/withdrawn unless there is more than a $75 outstanding balance or there has been an outstanding balance for more than two weeks, whichever comes first.

Vacation: Lessons at NMA continue as regularly scheduled throughout the summer months, June through August, with an allocation of one consecutive 2-week pause per student, per year. Students choosing to pause their lesson schedule are required to give a 2-week minimum notice and are given the option to reserve their lesson slot moving forward when they resume. If less than two weeks' notice is given then the student may need to utilize one of their excused absences in their package in the first week of their pause (if no excused absences are left then a billable lesson may be charged). Any student exceeding their 2-week pause will not be guaranteed their selected time slot upon return. A student may reserve their time slot for an additional two weeks by paying a holding fee of 50% of the cost of their lessons missed during the additional holding time.

Conduct: Respect for law and for those persons in authority shall be expected of all students. This includes conformity to general provisions of law regarding minors. Respect for the rights of others, consideration of their privileges, and cooperative citizenship will be expected of all members of the NMA community. Respect for personal property; personal standards of courtesy, decency, and honesty will be maintained at all times.Student conduct on or adjacent to NMA’s premises and at NMA-related events and activities shall be governed by the rules and provisions expressed above. In addition, student conduct on internet-based social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. when such conduct forms a sufficient connection to school or staff, is governed by the same expressed principals.
